Enable, Disable Internet Explorer 10 automatic update

Internet Explorer 10 is by default, set to download and install updates automatically. But if you wish, you can prevent Internet Explorer 10 from installing new version automatically. You may have your own reasons for doing so - but if you do wish to disable Internet Explorer 10 automatic update, you can do so easily.

Disable Internet Explorer 10 automatic update

To prevent Internet Explorer 10 from installing new version automatically, open IE and open it's About dialog box.

Now you will be able to see a check box that will allow you to enable or disable Internet Explorer 10 automatic update. To disable it, uncheck Install new versions automatically.

Once done, click on Close and Exit.

Now Internet Explorer will not install new versions automatically.

Automatic Updates will only offer Internet Explorer 10 to users with local administrator accounts, automatically. If your organization want to block installation of Internet Explorer 10 for some reasons, you may check out the Internet Explorer 10 Blocker Toolkit or use the Microsoft Windows Server Update Services to do so.
