How to open Microsoft Store apps on startup in Windows 10

This post will show you how to automatically launch or open UWP or Windows Store apps on every startup or boot in Windows 10. Most of us know how to make Programs run on startup - but not many may know how to make Windows 10 launch Windows Store apps on startup.

Open Windows Store apps on startup

You can control some Microsoft Store UWP apps from starting at startup time via Windows 10 Settings as follows:

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select Apps
  3. Click on Startup in the left menu
  4. Here you can allow or stop Windows apps from starting.

You can also do it by creating and then placing its shortcut in the Startup folder. Let us see both these procedures in detail.

Via Settings

Windows 10 now lets you manage Startups under Windows Settings > Apps > Startup > Startup Apps.

But you cannot control all UWP apps; you will be able to see and control only some apps.

Via Startups folder

This process is quite simple. First, open File Explorer and paste the following in the address bar and hit Enter to open the Applications folder:

shell:appsfolder

Next, open another instance of File Explorer. To do this, right-click on the Taskbar Explorer icon and select File Explorer.

In this instance of Explorer, open the following Startup folder location:

shell:startup

Resize and place the folders, side by side.

Now all you need to do is drag-and-drop the icon of the Windows Store app that you want to start at every startup from the Applications folder to the Startup folder.

When you do this, Windows 10 will create a shortcut or link to the app.

Once you have done this, close the folders, restart your computer and see.

The Windows Store app should launch automatically on startup.
